Sunday Ride 25-10-05 - Parking Nouvelles Frontières (near P3)

Sunday Ride

Please note that you must be a current OBC member to participate in any events.

Description : Road Ride

Start Location : ***NEW*** Due to parkway construction, we will meet at the gravel parking lot on rue Gamelin, near P3.

If you are cycling to the start via Champlain Bridge, I suggest following Bd St Raymond -- there is a pathway along the road -- until your reach the connecting path into P3, then cross into the park.

If you are cycling via the Chief William Commanda bridge, I recommend following Lac-des-Fées Parkway to rue Gamelin.

Here is a link to a map to show you the cycling routes to the start, which include cycle paths.

Start Time : 9:00 AM Departure - gather 8:30 -- 8:45

Heading into the colours, one hopes! We saw colours riding to and fro Rendrew on Sep 20/21, so hopefully the park will be alight this weekend.

Note that, due to construction, access into the park on Gatineau Parkway, and adjacent path, between Bd Taché & P3 is for all intents and purposes blocked. So, be watchful of the reroutes.

*Group composition will depend on having a Ride Leader, and interest for specific Distance/Speed combinations, as determined by who shows up at the start point.

Please contact the organizer if you have questions.

Sorry, registration closed.

Well, this is a silly amount of climbing! You folks can trim here, tuck there, as you wish. Written to ascend to Champlain, then rue St-Elisabeth, then Lascelles. Hopefully you will find some scenic views en route.

C (76 km, 918 m elevation gain)

This route is beautiful, and doesn't involve too much more climbing than a regular round-trip to Wakefield. This time of year it is spectacular! It does have a couple of daunting hills, however, that need to be climbed slow & steady. Did I mention that it is beautiful; you may want to plan to make a couple of photo stops. Just sayin'.

Alternatively, if you don't feel up to it, but would nonetheless like to get to Wakefield, don't despair! The D ride is also heading to Wakefield; I've added a 25-27 group for this week to the D.

If you aren't sure how this ride compares, elevation-wise, to previous rides you have done, simply go back in the calendar and look up the Ride with GPS routes.

D (61 km, 682 m elevation gain)

Heading to Wakefield, with the least climbing without taking the rail trail al the way.

The return is routed, partially, on the rail trail. It is easy to avoid, if desired. The return through the park is on the pathway, but can easily be rerouted to the normal route on the parkway.
