Sunday Ride

We are down to the last few rides of the season and two things are changing:

• Departure time moves to 10:00AM

• All remaining rides are "riders' choice".

What does Riders' Choice mean, in practice?

1. The ride start location is pre-set by your route master.

2. The usual 4 groupings (A, B, C, D) will be set (with suggested distances) together with the variety of speeds.

3. Riders sign up for the Group and Speed they would like to do.

4. At least some riders will need to have a clue of where they want to go, so that they can lead the followers.

Choosing a route:

1. I suggest that the ride choices be selected from the club routes. Alternatively, when you register, you might simply add a word or two re the destination in brackets with your name; e.g. "Ken Panton (park loop | Wakefield | etc.)".

2. The club routes are found in the OBC RWGPS route library

3. There are hundreds of routes in the library. To make it easier to find a route, I recommend narrowing the search by placing a single word into the "by Name" filter field. For Sunday rides, here are the single words to use (obviously the ride starting point): Haydon; Airport; Orleans; Sportsplex; Moussette.

4. Once you have filtered to find routes starting from that site, I suggest clicking on the "Dist (km)" column header to sort the routes by distance.

5. Hover your cursur over the "view" field for a route record and a pop-up with the route will appear. You can click on "view" to see the full page map.

6. If the route you select doesn't begin at the actual starting point of the day, be sure to know how to get from the starting point to a point along the route. For example, there are only a couple of routes that start from the Lac-des-Fées parking lot; use the Moussette routes and then note how to navigate from the parking lot to the route. Not difficult!

We'll keep the rides going at long as people show up and the weather is decent, or the weather is decent and people continue to show up!

*Group composition will depend on having a Ride Leader, and interest for specific Distance/Speed combinations, as determined by who shows up at the start point
