Women’ Evening Ride
🚴 Women'sAbout the event
Welcome to the start of the 2026 Women’s Cycling Season! ATTEMPT 2!
We’re bringing back a favourite from last year, we’ll be starting at Andrew Haydon Park and riding out to Carp. We’ll see if it’s warm enough for ice cream, but our planned stop is the Carp Creamery. Some of the larger pot holes have been patched as we approach Carp so that will make for a smoother ride.
This is a friendly no-drop road ride with a relaxed pace. Please make sure you have a bike with drops, no flat top handle bars as per club policy, and its in good wokring order. It's early in the season, so you might also want lights, front and back, for the ride home from Carp.
We'll meet at 5:45pm at the entrance straight off Holly Acres, down to the right. We will be ready to roll out at 6:00pm.
We really need volunteer ride leaders this year — like, really really need you! As a ride leader, your role is to help the group ride safely, keep everyone on the route, and create a welcoming environment for participants. You do not need to be the fastest or strongest in the group, just willing to work collaboratively to keep every moving in the right direction. Having access to the route is a key asset, either through a bike computer or a smart phone or watch.
Unfortunately, if we don’t get enough ride leaders this season, we won’t be able to continue running our weekly rides, so we truly need your help to keep this group going.
As a bonus, you get to pick the route and the treat stop!
So if you have even an inkling of interest, please reach out to Sara. We can provide ride leader training and education (a 2-hour seminar), plus mentoring to help get you confidently leading rides on the road!
Signed up but can’t make it? No worries — you have a few options. You can either withdraw through the RideHub website or if it is day of, just let Sara know by email (Sara.sheridan@ottawabicycleclub.ca)
