Sunday Ride
Please note that you must be a current OBC member to participate in any events.
Description : Road Ride
Start Location : NRC Airport
Start Time : 9:00 AM Departure - gather 8:30 -- 8:45
Heading south. Enjoy the late season vibe with the early leaves changing.
Be mindful of changing needs to your attire as the mornings can be chilly, even if the sun still warms things sup through the day. Dress in layers that you peel off and store in your pocket or handlebar bag: free your inner banana! If you keep your toes, fingers and ears warm, all will be well.
Note the extra "recovery ride" option this week. Your ride coordinator is not a spry 39 anymore and plans to have a long ride on Saturday. TBD whether or not he makes it out of the parking lot on Sunday. There's likely a prediction site to place a wager.
Bonne route!
*Group composition will depend on having a Ride Leader, and interest for specific Distance/Speed combinations, as determined by who shows up at the start point.
Available rides
A (151 km, 648 m elevation gain)
A route mostly utilizing known roads but stretching south to get to a couple of new segments where you can really stretch out on new pavement (Nation River Rd; Forward Rd is also mighty fine, if not brand new. The road from Crysler to Berwick, as well). At 151 km, it's somewhat longer than average but I wanted to offer the chance to get to these new roads before the season ends. There is an obvious place to chop off about 25 km at Morewood (km 52), if desired. I don't think I've ever drawn a Sunday route to Berwick, south of Crysler, which has a fine picnic gazebo and a welcome portapotty (the route is not drawn right to them; they are located in McIntosh Memorial Park).
There are obvious places where the group might choose one road over another on the return (e.g. John Quinn vs Eighth Line).

B (104 km, 389 m elevation gain)
A familiar, clockwise route to Winchester; the outbound is particularly pleasant. Note that there is a dearth of toilet facilities on the return, so make use of what Winchester has to offer. There are options in Osgoode, which is only slightly off the route - please note how to get there (e.g. turn left at km 78, then follow the bend to the right and go up to Osgoode Main St). See the map for rest stop options.

C (81 km, 348 m elevation gain)
A lollipop route, with the loop through Greely, Metcalfe and Osgoode. Note on the map the rest stop possibilities, as they are not included in the ride cues. Suggest a cafe stop in Osgoode at the No Go Cafe. But there is also the Foodland and the Red Dot cafe.

D (61 km, 378 m elevation gain)
Many options for coffee stops on this lollipop route; the main decision, however, is whether to stop at the Steven Rogers Dr Ultramar or at one of several options in Manotick. The ride leader will want to avoid confusion by confirming the group preference ahead of time as it will require that you go briefly off piste and you'll need to be firm with your GPS nag. You could also make this a late-season Cafe Crawl, too!
This leisurely route also leads you on the "scenic" exit from Manotick, along a short bit of stone dust pathway.
Mind your left turns!

Err? (1 km, 2 m elevation gain)
Well, this would be embarassing!
