Sunday Ride 26-11-08 Andrew Haydon Park
About the event
I have no idea when the city closes the gates on Andrew Haydon Park; consequently, if the gates are closed to our usual parking lot, go to the "backup" parking lot, located just to the east.
Sunday Ride
Please note that you must be a current OBC member to participate in any events.
Description : Road Ride
Start Location : Andrew Haydon Park
Start Time : 10:00 AM Departure - gather 9:30 -- 9:45
A small set of groups to eek out another ride.
Keep and eye on the weather; it's looking half-decent, at the moment (Wednesday night) though with moderate westerly winds forecast; it won't be anything like today's warm sunshine, sadly.
If the forecast turns south, I will just cancel BUT that's not the plan at the moment!
Bonne route!
*Group composition will depend on having a Ride Leader, and interest for specific Distance/Speed combinations, as determined by who shows up at the start point.
Available rides
A (133 km, 812 m elevation gain)
A clockwise loop starting out through Kanata near to Carleton Place (a couple of km of gravel on Old Almonte Rd between Dwyer Hill and Golden Line Rds) before turning north to Almonte, Blakeney, Pakenham (I believe the 5-Arches Bridge is now passable), to Galetta Side Rd before returning on Loggers Way, Diamondview, Carp Rd. Pick your refreshment stops ahead of time. Possible stops are Almonte, Pakenham, Carp.
B (91 km, 411 m elevation gain)
An outing to Constance Bay where there is the Scratch Sandwich Shop, open on Sundays from 11AM. Do take a look at the route; there is really nowhere to stop between Kanata North and Constance Bay. Note that the route name is difference from that advertised here.
C (75 km, 469 m elevation gain)
A loop to Kinburn Rd, returning via Carp.
D (64 km, 430 m elevation gain)
A simple loop to a break in Carp. It is drawn to stop at Pinhey's Point, but I don't think you wil be highly motivated to do that. I suggest you just carry on!
